The Khvostov 7G-02 saw guardians through their first ambush, and players have not forgotten that fact. "I think it was very much like, 'Hey, we need an old weapon that speaks to European design language, pick this reference, use it, make it look broken.' And then we moved on to designing other things," Wang stated. Bungie's art director, Shiek Wang, and lead designer, Ryan Paradis, had this to say about the gun's rise to current Destiny standard. In a report by Game Informer, developers touch on why they chose to bring the Khvostov 7G-02 back as an exotic. It makes raids easier, and also becomes a collector's prized possession. Exotic weapons are the best of what Destiny has to offer. While the amount of time and effort can prove tedious, the payoff is worth it. After that, a set of tasks is given to the player in order for them to be able to advance to the next section of its completion. Destiny usually involves some sort of questline that urges players to pick up a certain item or gun. This isn't the first time that we've seen a seemingly pointless weapon return as something great.
